First Big Baby Items!

The Fex Ex guy came this weekend with my first big baby purchase!!! The three wheeled stroller that I have always wanted! I don't know why, but I just love three wheeled strollers; not necessarily jogging strollers, because those have ginormous wheels, and I don't need that, but just three normal sized wheels. I put it together today and the thing pushes like it is riding on air. I just love it and I am so excited!

If you will notice, it even has a kickstand so that when baby gets bigger and climbs in on their own, it won't tip over. How clever those manufacturers are!

Grandma spoiled the baby when she was here visiting too and got us some nursery essentials. The rocking chair and ottoman, which will be used constantly, I'm sure. Pete already uses it all the time.

As you may have noticed I still have the plastic on it. No, I am not one of those grandma's who covers all of her furniture in plastic. I have reasons why I am leaving it on. First, Pete didn't get the name leaky Pete for nothing, so I would like it to stay clean at least until the baby is here. And second, my four legged mew, Jack, loves to make it his bed and I would rather not have the baby's stuff covered in Jack hair before it even gets into the nursery. So until it is in the nursery with the door shut to keep Jack away, it is staying covered.

Grandma also got us the baby's crib. I love it so! So many cribs out there are huge and bulky or small and rickety, and this one was the perfect balance. Plus, it is modern looking, which is so my style, and it will convert to a toddler then a full size bed as the baby grows up.

I won't see this beautiful crib for a little while, though. It takes 8 to 12 weeks in order for them to ship it. It is like ordering a wedding dress. Luckily we got an early start and should have no problem getting it home and assembled in time for the little bean.

So three things down and only like 3000 more to go!!!

First Night Without Nausea!

Last night was the first night that I have gone to bed without feeling like I could vomit at any moment since May. This is huge! Usually I stagger to my bathroom, avoiding washing my face as the act of bending forward could be disastrous. I brush my teeth and especially my tongue, which always tastes funny these days; then as I lay down in bed I am forced to prop myself up higher as to avoid any reflux that may occur by laying too flat. I also never turn onto my right side, as experience tells me, that is a sure fire way to induce vomiting rather quickly. Left side is the safe side, but since my nightstand is on my right, I am forced to continually roll over in order to grab my spit cup once every minute or two until I drift off to sleep. It is wonderful. But last night, things changed!

I laid down with just my one pillow, and not even folded in half like I do sometimes. I could lay on either side, or my back, which was so nice, because when you can't lay on a side, everything in your body makes you want to lay on that side. It sucks. And I only used my spit cup like three times instead of my usual 300 or so. What makes it more amazing is that my dog was producing some smells that could have wiped out a whole village, and with my over sensitive olfactory senses, one would think that alone would have sent me to the toilet, nausea or no nausea. But no, this stomach stayed strong!

I have some theories on why this change took place.

One: I went to Cheesecake Factory with Amy, her sister Katie, and little Madeline and had some cheesecake from three different slices. Yes, that's right, three different slices. The anniversary cheesecake, the red velvet cheesecake, and their brand new Reese's peanut butter, chocolate cheesecake; for those of you that were wondering. Perhaps the baby has been craving some cheesecake this whole time and making me nauseous was the only way to get the point across. If this is the case, does this mean I will have to consume cheesecake everyday? Because I will definitely start gaining weight then.

Two: My dog, in a fit of excitement over hearing Pete's truck in the driveway when he got home, jumped and pushed his paw off of my belly. That is 80 lbs of dog pushing off my fragile little stomach. Perhaps this blow just pushed the nausea right out of me. However, I fear that this will also leave a giant paw print embedded into the baby's belly when it comes out.

See that paw? Yeah, that's the paw that did it. She may look cute, but she is big, and when she wants to, she has a lot of energy, and it is never good to have that energy concentrated on my stomach. Pregnant or not.

Theory three: Finally the pregnancy gods are being nice and taking my awful "morning" sickness away! I'm really pulling for theory number three to be the correct one, but I am not ready to celebrate it yet. Don't want to jinx anything. If tonight is nausea free, then tomorrow there will definitely be some celebrating!

15 Weeks

I passed 15 weeks yesterday and still going strong. Well, strong may not be the right word since the nausea and vomiting that I am usually plagued with keeps me down a lot. I am pretty much a sissy when it comes to that kind of stuff. My belly is starting to stick out a bit, which is cool. I am still down seven pounds from when I found out I was pregnant, but I hope that is all changing soon. Mainly I am hoping the "morning" sickness goes away so I can finally eat and enjoy food again. Who knew that at the time you need to eat most in life, food would be the last thing I would want.

I have started taking the weekly pictures of my baby bump so we can document how huge I get. Right now it is little and makes me look like I am just really bloated. But soon I'm sure it will definitely look like I am actually pregnant, and not just full of gas. I can't wait to find out what we are having. Only a few more weeks!!!

Last Week of 1st Trimester!

Just got back from my Aunt Sally's Farm yesterday. It was so much fun to see the family and tell them all the exciting news. My mom was really happy too cause she didn't have to keep the secret anymore, since she had already known for a couple weeks. My brother took this picture of us while we were there, and I love it.

Can you tell that our little one is going to have blue eyes?! So today I had my Dr's check up as well as an ultrasound at the pregnancy clinic, which was great because Mom and Dad were able to come with me to it.

My Dr's visit went great. I got to hear the babies heartbeat, which was so amazing. It just makes you feel so much better when you can hear or see the baby. Then you know that all is going well since I can't feel the little bean yet.

The ultrasound was amazing. The little one was moving around all over the place. Jumping, turning, stretching the arms and legs. It is crazy to watch them doing all that movement, yet I can't feel a thing. Plus, at 12 weeks now the baby actually looks so much like a baby! Some of the pictures can be a bit scary or alien like, like this one:

Scary! I told Pete that it looks like the baby is wearing a motorcycle helmet. Definitely Pete's kid! It was cool to actually see all the parts of the baby. Like this one of the spine:

This one was the only decent one we got of the whole babies body since it was moving around so much. I think it is just precious, however, I might be biased. That little chubby belly is too cute.

My next check-up isn't for another month and hopefully sometime close to then we will be finding out the sex of the baby!!! We can't wait!

Ultrasound Training

So I got a call last week from the free pregnancy clinic saying that they were doing an ultrasound technician training and were wondering if I would be willing to come in as basically a guinea pig for them to train on. So of course I said yes! That sounded like fun.

There ended up being four girls that were receiving the training as well as the trainer there. It was awesome because I got to learn a little about what exactly it was that I was looking at. It is amazing what all they can see and tell based on slight variations in the color and texture of the grey blurry stuff.

So after the trainer, as well as all four of the trainees did their measurements of our little bean they gave me the due date of January 25th again. So many dates! Since my doctor is going by the 19th, that is what I think I am going to stick with though.

The ultrasound at 9 weeks looks even more like a little baby, with a giant Heikes noggin!!! I love this picture because the yolk sac looks like a halo. My little angel.

7 Weeks

I had my follow up appointment today and everything looked good. The ultrasound looked more like an actual baby this time and less like a paint blob. Based on the measurements from this ultrasound the Dr. said the due date was January 19th again. This is getting pretty crazy.

So the whole "morning" sickness thing has started to kick in these last few days, but for me, I feel the best in the morning. Then it slowly progresses into pretty much awful by the evening. Plus I have this overactive saliva thing going on, which is less than pleasant so I have spittoons around the house so I don't always have to run to the sink. It is pretty much the most disgusting thing ever. So, sorry for the details, but if reading about it is gross, imagine living it. I am just hopeful that this whole situation doesn't last for my entire pregnancy, because I would actually like to enjoy it.

Ultrasound at 6 Weeks

Down the street from our house is a free pregnancy clinic. I had always seen it since it was right across from the Starbucks that I frequent so when I found out I was pregnant, since I didn't have a regular gynocologist I thought maybe I would just go there.

They were great. It was so exciting to see the first pictures of my baby even though he or she just looked like a greyish blur. It was the most beautiful greyish blur I had ever seen!

The baby is the bright whitish/grey blur inside the black amniotic sac, and the greyish ring is the yolk sac, which will feed my baby until the placenta takes over in a few weeks.
After the ultrasound technician ran all of her measurements she gave me yet another due date of January 25th. So at this point I don't even know which date to go by, but I at least know it will be sometime around the end of January.

My follow up appointment at the doctors office is in a week, and I am guessing they are going to have yet another due date for me. As long as baby is healthy, I don't really care! Babies rarely come on their due date anyway. The ultrasound technician told me it is about 4% that do. Kind of crazy.
