16 Months Have Flown By

It has been sixteen months already, and my little munchkin is changing so much.  About two months ago, her hair really started to come in fast.  It is getting long now (for her anyway) and the ends are curly and so far it is staying that brilliant copper red color.  It is gorgeous.

(they were out within minutes since her hair is so fine)

She is getting more independent these days and has even started feeding herself with a spoon and fork. The eating process is still very hit and miss, but she is definitely enjoying a lot more solid foods like pasta, bananas, strawberries, granola bars, egg and cheese sandwiches, and cheese, which is probably her favorite.

I love how proud she is of herself.

After her last front tooth came in back in February, I thought it was taking forever for her to get another, then about two weeks ago I was playing with her and hung her upside down.  She had her mouth open in a fit of giggles and I noticed she had a molar on the top right, one on the top left and one just breaking through on the bottom left.  I was shocked!  All this time I thought she was taking a while to get the next one in, but she was actually full of teeth.  I am sure that is why she is doing a lot better with the solid foods.

Love that smile!

Last month I took Layla to Palm Springs for two weeks so we could spend some time with Grammy and Grandpa while they were there.  We had a really good time, except for Layla coming down with Roseola.  She had a high fever that lasted a couple of days then it went away and a rash developed on her face which spread down her torso to her legs.  It was rough for a few days, but she was a trooper, dealing with it when it was so hot in Palm Springs. Unfortunately, her worst day was Mother's Day, so that was kind of a bummer, but the next day she was doing great!

Naps on Mommy always makes her feel better.

Having a moment.

She is talking a lot more, both with real words, and in "Layla speak". I wish I knew what she was saying when she talks in Layla speak, because she definitely has a lot to say.  She is learning more words all the time, and sometimes will blow me away repeating something rather complicated absolutely perfect like she did the other day with "Uncle Danny".  Though I do love hearing her say actual words, I just love to listen to her babbles. Of course every time I grab the camera she clams up, so this one is the closest I could get so far.
