Ultrasound Training

So I got a call last week from the free pregnancy clinic saying that they were doing an ultrasound technician training and were wondering if I would be willing to come in as basically a guinea pig for them to train on. So of course I said yes! That sounded like fun.

There ended up being four girls that were receiving the training as well as the trainer there. It was awesome because I got to learn a little about what exactly it was that I was looking at. It is amazing what all they can see and tell based on slight variations in the color and texture of the grey blurry stuff.

So after the trainer, as well as all four of the trainees did their measurements of our little bean they gave me the due date of January 25th again. So many dates! Since my doctor is going by the 19th, that is what I think I am going to stick with though.

The ultrasound at 9 weeks looks even more like a little baby, with a giant Heikes noggin!!! I love this picture because the yolk sac looks like a halo. My little angel.

7 Weeks

I had my follow up appointment today and everything looked good. The ultrasound looked more like an actual baby this time and less like a paint blob. Based on the measurements from this ultrasound the Dr. said the due date was January 19th again. This is getting pretty crazy.

So the whole "morning" sickness thing has started to kick in these last few days, but for me, I feel the best in the morning. Then it slowly progresses into pretty much awful by the evening. Plus I have this overactive saliva thing going on, which is less than pleasant so I have spittoons around the house so I don't always have to run to the sink. It is pretty much the most disgusting thing ever. So, sorry for the details, but if reading about it is gross, imagine living it. I am just hopeful that this whole situation doesn't last for my entire pregnancy, because I would actually like to enjoy it.

Ultrasound at 6 Weeks

Down the street from our house is a free pregnancy clinic. I had always seen it since it was right across from the Starbucks that I frequent so when I found out I was pregnant, since I didn't have a regular gynocologist I thought maybe I would just go there.

They were great. It was so exciting to see the first pictures of my baby even though he or she just looked like a greyish blur. It was the most beautiful greyish blur I had ever seen!

The baby is the bright whitish/grey blur inside the black amniotic sac, and the greyish ring is the yolk sac, which will feed my baby until the placenta takes over in a few weeks.
After the ultrasound technician ran all of her measurements she gave me yet another due date of January 25th. So at this point I don't even know which date to go by, but I at least know it will be sometime around the end of January.

My follow up appointment at the doctors office is in a week, and I am guessing they are going to have yet another due date for me. As long as baby is healthy, I don't really care! Babies rarely come on their due date anyway. The ultrasound technician told me it is about 4% that do. Kind of crazy.
